MAD RUSH IS ON INDEFINITE HIATUS. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY WORK AT THIS TIME.
Mad Rush is an online zine and an annual print magazine. The mission statement is simple: publish the best work, period. Politics, degrees, styles, genres, schools – they don’t matter here. Whether you’re an old pro or just starting out, an underground lifer or MFAer, all are welcome and encouraged to submit work.
You can be dark, strange, kinky, funny, experimental, or serious. Show me fire. Show me passion. Show me something new. No limits, so don’t hold back. Also, don’t be dull or pretentious.
Mad Rush accepts poetry, flash fiction, and anything in between, as well as art, reviews, commentary, excerpts from unpublished or forthcoming books, or YouTube clips of yourself reading your work. Original work only, no simultaneous submissions or anything previously published, either in print or online (personal blog or e-zine). Work posted on Facebook or read/performed in a YouTube clip is not considered previously published.
Poetry: 100 lines or less (though I prefer less)
Flash Fiction: 1,000 words or less
Fiction: up to 3,000 words
Submit 1-3 pieces at a time in the body of an email or in a single Word file attachment (.doc or .docx) to madrush [@] outlook [.] com. Your subject line should contain your name, submission type, and the word “online” (e.g., Langdon Alger – Poetry – Online). Please also include a short bio with links if any – I will post this to the site on the Contributors page.
Only one piece appears per day for the online edition. Accepted work will be held until a free day. If multiple pieces are accepted, they will appear on future dates after other contributors have appeared. Payment is exposure. All rights revert to authors/artists upon publication.
Same guidelines for Online apply for Print. The annual print issue for Mad Rush will only be open during specified reading periods. These will be posted on the website and are subject to change.
NO SUBMISSIONS ARE BEING CONSIDERED FOR PRINT AT THIS TIME. ALL SUBMISSIONS RECEIVED WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ONLINE EDITION.
Print issues will require cover art. Send hi-res JPEGs (300 dpi) to the above email address.
Payment is an electronic (PDF) copy of the issue your work appears in. All rights revert to authors/artists upon publication.
Mad Rush is managed and edited by Craig Scott. Print issues will be distributed through Lulu.com.
